Final single, Blind, out now
Wave Of The Flood Launches Final Single As Year-Long Creative Journey Comes To A Conclusion
Lindsay Strachan, the independent songwriter behind folk act Wave Of The Flood, announces the release of her final single from new album FortyFive, arriving on 8 May. The launch marks the pinnacle of an ambitious project, which saw her release one single every month for a year, celebrating the enduring legacy of the 45rpm single format in her 45thbirthday year.
Blind, despite its upbeat tone, focuses on the realisation – too late – that a friend could have been the one. It’s the last of a series of singles, exploring a wide range of topics, from love, loss, family and even some moments of wild imagination.
This final single also coincides with the launch of the album in full, which has been produced by esteemed folk musician Kris Drever. Drever also supplies his signature guitar work throughout. Contributions from celebrated musicians including John McCusker (fiddle and accordion) and John McDonald (double bass) bring depth and texture to a record rooted in contemporary folk traditions.
Speaking about her final release, Strachan says:
"Releasing a single a month has been a far bigger undertaking than I would have guessed, but it’s been rewarding to celebrate each track in its own right.
Coming to the end of the project, I’m delighted to have received such warm feedback on the album, and in particular from those who’ve said I’ve inspired them in their own projects. Releasing my debut album at 45 feels later in life to some, and I really want to encourage anyone who has a creative urge, no matter their age, to go and follow it!”
Already gaining traction through radio play and live performances - with every track championed by the BBC, and supporting a variety of folk icons including Eddi Reader, Kris Drever, and John McCusker - Wave Of The Flood is building a growing audience drawn to her evocative storytelling and distinctive voice within the UK folk scene.
Supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
Both Blind and FortyFive are on all streaming platforms from 8 May.
