Wave Of The Flood nears album launch, with powerful 11th single
Wave Of The Flood, the musical alter-ego of Scottish singer-songwriter Lindsay Strachan, releases her 11th single this April, as she enters the final stretch of an ambitious year-long recording project.
Strachan is marking her 45th year in celebration of another famous 45 – the original vinyl single. The project has seen her launch a song a month throughout the year, with Please Give Me My Love Back marking the penultimate single.
Becoming well known for songs that pack an emotional punch, the track speaks a universal truth – the pain of unrequited love.
Strachan, said of her newest single:
“Please Give Me My Love Back was actually one of the first songs I ever wrote. A kind of therapy in a way. Kris jokes that you get a freebie up front – the first song that feels like it spills out of you, that keeps you coming back to writing time and time again.
I was nervous about wearing my heart on my sleeve. But the more time we spent in the studio, the braver I got. I’m sure almost everyone will resonate with the idea of the one that got away, the ache of giving away love without it being returned, and the begging – love me back, or return what I gave you so freely.
For anyone feeling that way now, may this song help you get through it.”
Produced by folk stalwart Kris Drever, the project brings together some of Scotland’s most respected musicians, with this release also featuring fiddle from John McCusker.
Please Give Me My Love Back will be available on all major streaming platforms from 10 April, followed by the final single and full album reveal on 8 May.
Supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
