In Tribute To The Finest Love Of All – Friendship. New Single, Love Is, released today.

Wave Of The Flood announces her latest single, Love Is, a deeply personal tribute written in memory of her dear friend Darren Clark, who died suddenly almost five years ago.

Strachan continues her mission to release a single a month in the year of her 45th birthday, in celebration of the artform of the classic single – the 45rpm. 22 January would have marked Darren’s birthday, making this month’s release especially poignant.

Before his passing, Darren wrote a poem titled Love Is — a joyous reflection all the small things that symbolised true love to him. Drawing on the themes of his poem, Strachan transformed the ideas into a song that celebrates the friendship they shared.

Love Is was first performed at Darren’s funeral, where it became a moment of remembrance and connection for family and friends. Though Darren never had the chance to hear the song, Strachan says she finds solace in knowing that his memory continues to live on every time it is played.

Darren was a passionate music lover, with a particular admiration for Eddi Reader. In a fitting and emotional full-circle moment, Strachan recently performed Love Is when she supported Reader at the Fringe by The Sea Festival.

Speaking about the release, Lindsay reflects:

“Writing the song really helped me channel the grief I felt at losing Darren in the first few days after his death. It’s a shame he never got to hear it, but I adore that he lives on through it. Every time I sing it, he’s with me. It was hard to sing at first, but now I love sharing the story so that he’s remembered”
