I Could Die marks half way point of 45 project

Rising contemporary folk artist Wave Of The Flood celebrates the halfway point of her ambitious year-long campaign with the release of her captivating new single, I Could Die. The track marks the sixth in a series of twelve monthly singles, released in tribute to the enduring artistry of the 45rpm single — and to mark the artist’s own 45th birthday year.

The creative force behind Wave Of The Flood, singer-songwriter Lindsay Strachan, launched the project earlier this year with the goal of rekindling the joy and immediacy of the single as a storytelling form.

“I’ve loved this project – releasing a single each month has meant I can be playful with the different topics in my songs without worrying about an overarching album theme,” says Strachan. “My November single is really different from my last, and I’m excited to see the momentum building behind these releases.”

Exploring themes of formative relationships and the fragility of human connection, I Could Die captures the emotional tension between hurt and healing.

“The song reflects on what happens in the space between the sharp awareness of the hurt we inflict on those we love the most — often shaped by early wounds — and the deep yearning to make things right,” Strachan explains. “Despite its title, I hope people find it affirming.”

Produced by acclaimed musician Kris Drever (Lau), who also contributes his signature guitar work, I Could Die features John McDonald on double bass and Dylan Cairns on fiddle. Recorded by Garry Boyle at The Slate Room Studio, the track glows with warmth and intimacy, balancing lyrical vulnerability with musical restraint.
